Is it the Packaging or the Product?
I'm a sucker for great packaging. Fun shapes, great colours and tactile materials all add up to getting my attention. However, it raises an interesting question in personal care, I'm buying a complex chemical formulation. Do I trust a face Wash that comes in the shape of an Ice Cream cone, a shampoo contained within a fantasy rabbit character? Who made it, where was it made, what's in it and how much of the cost has gone into the packaging instead of the product? All questions worth considering even though it looks fantastic.
I suppose it's a combination of both, if it looks great and smells great then sometimes these are the only factors we are prepared (or have time) to consider. The most important thing is to enjoy it.
